Coming Up: Head of the Snohomish

Fall is here and the first competition for Mount Baker Junior Crew is right around the corner.  On Sunday, October 9, members of the varsity squads will travel to Everett for the Head of the Snohomish (HOTS) Regatta.

Like most races in the fall, HOTS is a head race covering ~5000 meters on the Snohomish River, just north of downtown.  Look for another post later this week which will cover the differences between head races and the sprint races that are typically raced in the spring.

Racing begins at 9:45 am with the first flight.  Mount Baker will not race until the second flight at 11:45 with the Boys and Girls Varsity and JV 8+’s.  The boys and girls 3V 8+’s will race at 1:45.

We anticipate a return to Mount Baker by 4:30 pm.  Depending on the arrival time, coaches may elect to rig boats upon arrival to Mount Baker so as not to take time out of practice on Monday to do so.

Note: Last year we were able to link directly to the proper classes for registration.  Due to a recent update on the Seattle Parks Website, we are no longer able to directly link to each class.  Parks is working on a workaround for us to help make this process easier.
