This coming Sunday, April 10, the team will be travelling to Everett to race against Everett and Sammamish. The Everett staff is calling this the “April Throwdown”. We are not sure what is being thrown down, but we will be there when it happens.
Specifics:
Cost is $55
Online Course Code: 62955
The team will load the trailer Saturday morning at 9:30 AM and should be completed with loading by 10:30.
The team is tentatively scheduled to depart Mount Baker in buses on Sunday at 5:45 AM. We hope to be completed by 4:00 PM after unloading the trailer and rigging.
Preview:
We have tentatively planned on racing three pieces over approximately 1500m. The exact race schedule is to be determined on Tuesday at our annual “strategic planning meeting”.
On the boy’s side, Everett’s Varsity 8+ recently came in 2nd at the San Diego Crew Classic to a powerful Marin crew, while their JV won in San Diego. Sammamish may not bring their Varsity 8+ this weekend, instead they may opt to race only their lower boats. On the girl’s side, the Sammamish Varsity 8+ continues to assert itself as one of the region’s elite crews after winning at the Green Lake Spring Regatta and posting the fastest Northwest time this past weekend at the Husky Open. Everett, who came in second at Green Lake, posted a similar time to Mount Baker this past weekend. While we cannot read too much into comparing times between races, especially in regattas with floating starts, it is safe to say that the racing will be close.
