Intro to KayakingKayaking

In this two hour introductory course, you will learn fundamental paddling skills, boat recovery, beach and dock approaches, safety, emergency preparedness, and more in our “skirted” sea kayaks.

Small class sizes. No prior experience necessary.

Bring a change of clothes – you will get wet! Wet suits recommended September – May. Life jackets will be provided.

Ages 12 and older and at least 54 inches in height. Participants 12-15 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Required Forms:

*A float test is not required for this two hour introductory course. A personal flotation device (life jacket) will be worn at all times.

Kayak Tours of Lake Washington

Ages 16 and older. Take a guided kayak tour: explore wildlife, learn the history of Lake Washington shoreline parks, and see the architecture of the shoreline homes. Tours are three to five hours long, including loading/unloading of equipment, personal instruction, and time on the water. Paddling a sea kayak is an athletic endeavor. Schedule your tour length accordingly. All paddlers must have completed an Introductory Kayak course at Mount Baker.

  • Have a current float test
  • Be willing to explore the shoreline of Lake Washington and have FUN!

  • Groups no larger than 6 kayakers.
  • Cost per hour: $60/hr
